95 South was a Miami bass duo of AB (Article Bartley) and Daddy Black (Carlos Spencer) from Jacksonville, Florida. The group's name is a reference to Interstate 95, which passes through the city. Their biggest success was the 1993 hit "Whoot, There It Is" from their debut album Quad City Knock, which reached #11 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was produced by C.C. Lemonhead & Jay "Ski" McGowan, then known as The Bass Mechanics, who would later be known as the 69 Boyz and the Quad City DJ's. The success of the single propelled the album to peak at #71 on the Billboard 200.
In 2000, the group contributed to the soundtrack for the movie Bring It On, with the song "Cheer for Me".
The duo have also remixed songs for artists including Jordan Knight and Dru Hill.
