Mark Picchiotti Feat. Alec Sun Drae music video Feel Like Singin'

Alec Sun Drae started singing long before she even started speaking. At least that’s what her mother says. She gave her first public performance at the tender age of 6 when she was a soloist in a church choir directed by Jozef Mozdzer, father of a famous Polish jazz pianist Leszek Mozdzer who at that time was also a member of the choir. She continued to sing with the choir until its split four years later. She would take part in every single song contest she heard of always scooping the main prize. At the age of 18 she joined a reggae group called Rooty Speech with whom she sang for nearly 3 years. While she was the lead singer her sister Monika Kur was the backing vocalist. After just three years of performing with the group they were snatched by another band, this time it was a funk group called Vo.Kool.Ski with whom 2 years later, just before her departure to London Alec Sun Drae recorded a cover version of a polish hit from the 80’s titled Jestes Lekiem Na Cale Zlo. Originally the song was sung by Krystyna Pronko, but Alec Sun Drae’s version was desribed by the critics as better than the original and became an instant hit landing at No 2 spot of Radio RMF.FM charts in Novemeber 2001 beating Kylie Minogue’s Can’t Get You Out Of My Head and even Michael Jackson’s Rock My World. Due to the popularity of the track Vo.Kool.Ski have been compared to the Fuggees and Alec Sun Drae has been called the Polish Lauryn Hill. Two years on the song is still being played by Polish radio stations. While singing with Vo.Kool.Ski Alec Sun Drae started collaborating with other artists: There was a dance project with MarcinHa, a producer from Tri-City with whom she wrote music for a theatre play titled Kvetch staged by Maybe Thatre Company. In March 2001 their track Milkshake was released on Pepsifaza compilation, promoting young music talents. Their tracks were also featured on Klubokawiarnia compliation. Alec Sun Drae was invited by Nosek of Blenders to initially sing a track with a possibility of future release. Instead she came up with her own lyrics and melody and they co-wrote a track tilted Life. The band liked it so much they featured it on their album Kuciland released in August 2001. A night out on town in January 2000 lead to her future collaboration with DJ Dooda, one of the best DJs in Poland. Alec Sun Drae went to a party at Sfinks Club, where London based Ed Case, MC Spee & Sweetie Irie were promoting their album Coming Of The Distant Storm. Alec Sun Drae ended up singing with them on stage and afterwards she was offered a residency as a live PA singer at the club. She got hooked up with DJ Dooda and that’s how it all begun. Within next 2 years they have toured all major clubs and house festivals in Poland and also did a few gigs in Berlin. They were the first live soundystem of their kind in Poland. DJ Dooda vs Alec Sun Drae, who are residents at Sopot’s Sfinks Club, remain to be one of the hottest club acts in Poland and despite her living in London every three months she is back by popular demand to perform at such venues as Sfinks, Utopia, Orgazna, Muza etc. Her Polish gigs include Love Parade, Spike House Summer Party, MTV Poland opening night in Sopot, MTV Music Awards Party in Lodz, Yach Film Festival. Alec Sun Drae was the first artist to be invited to perform at Film Magazine Awards that took place in Warsaw in February 2003. Alec Sun Drae collaborated also with Envee who after hearing her perform with DJ Dooda, his close friend, invited her to co-write a track with him. The fruit of their work is Say U Don’t, a broken-beats track which is featured on his album Envee & Innocent Sorcerers released in Poland in summer 2003. After moving to London in March 2001 Alec Sun Drae collaborated with a drum’n’bass DJ/producer Gerona. They co-wrote a track titled ‘Smith’ and snippets of her vocals were looped in other of his track titled ‘Chime’. These two tracks were later released by Jerona Fruits record label and received enthusiastic reviews in I-DJ, Knowledge Magazine, Muzik. Alec Sun Drae’s vocals were cited to be the main distinctive element of those tracks and were compared to those of Kosheen. The music video Smith was showcased at the Miami Music Conference and featured on Drum’N’Bass Arena TV. Since moving to London more than two years ago Alec Sun Drae has done a string of P/As in the following London clubs: Bar Latino, Soho with DJ Basil, CC Club, West End with DJ Cyril, Glow Rooms with Dj Expression and DJ Cartel as a part of Broadcite Night, Bridge’N’Tunnel with DJ Cartel, The Mass, Brixton, Fluid, Soho with DJ Cartel, PEBA night at Mernier Chocolate Factory, and the most recent one at The Embassy, Mayfair with DJ Ollie from Kiss FM.
