Sam Adams Feat. G. Curtis music video Still I Rise

Born in Austin, Texas, Greg “G” Curtis II is a singer, actor, and songwriter. If asked if he had to pick just one field to focus on, G would simply respond: “Impossible”. This passion and motivation is what fuels the entertainment machine that is G Curtis. G dove into the music scene at a tender age. Growing up in a musically gifted household, his father Greg Curtis Sr., a Grammy winning songwriter/producer exposed him to every genre of music available. It is with his talented ear for sound that was bestowed upon him so young, that G Curtis is now able to craft the melodies that have already begun to blast him into the realms of critical acclaim. While his father fine tuned his listening and writing skills, his mother was hard at work giving G all the vocal knowledge she had from her background as a singer. In grade school, G possessed and exposed his natural vocal stylings. His first grade teacher was infamous for claiming that, “if only we could put his lesson to music, Greg would ace everything”. She observed that G would ignore instruction to tap rhythmic beats on his desk, hum to himself vibrantly and pat his feet to the orchestra that was playing only within his creative mind. At the age of 7, G began routinely performing solos in his church choir. The congregation would stand in a rousing ovation as the final note reached its key belting from the mouth of the young G. In his teenage years, G decided, why not become a triple threat. He signed himself up for both dance and acting lessons. He performed in school plays, auditioned for local shows and contests throughout the L.A. area. At every point, G wanted to be the best, striving to become a well-rounded performer who was capable of doing it all. His foundations at home had taught him to reach for the stars and that the cliché that “the sky was the limit” could truly be a reality if he pushed himself. G found himself at age 17, on the brink of stardom on the radar of A&R scouts at Hollywood Records, an entity of The Walt Disney Corporation. This afforded him no hassle auditions for TV series such as That’s So Raven and other smaller projects. G remained focused and knew in his heart of hearts, that his work and dedication would someday pay off. During his 3-years of formal acting training at the Jill Donnelan School of Acting in Agoura Hills, Jill saw G’s untapped talent and began to seek out bigger projects for the rising star. G has since acted in small roles on ABC’s Friday Night Lights, Greek, The One and cameos in feature films. In 2008, G was introduced to a band consisting of USC music majors calling themselves “Pinot”. G’s vocal talent took the band to places they never imagined. Pinot has since performed at L.A. hotspots such as The Key Club, House of Blues, The Mint and many others throughout the west coast. The band has found critical acclaim and many have been quoted saying G Curtis is in fact a “new breed of performer”. One night Pinot played a show for USC’s local college dive bar, it was expected by G to be a show just like any other. But something was different about this night. Zack Johnson was in the audience of the show. At the time, Zack had just created a fledgling independent record label by the name of 1st Round Records. 1st Round Records had found major success with their first star, Sam Adams. After hearing just a few notes come from G’s mouth, Zack was convinced. He knew that G Curtis had the potential as a serious solo artist and he wanted to sign him. He saw the chemistry and contagious energy that G’s passion gave the audience that night. Only days later a contract was struck between 1st Round Records and G Curtis. Zack Johnson and his partner Teague Egan knew that 1st Round Records possessed the resources and expertise to launch G to superstardom. From there Zack brought in the resources and management expertise of The Carrico Management Group in order to further enhance the creative team working on G Curtis’ behalf. When G was just 13 years old he was asked by his father to sing in front of Babyface, but he was unable to perform. He refused. He had stage fright and the song could not resonate from his vocal chords. This moment in G’s life changed him forever. He never again wanted to feel that fear. So he took the world of music on, and in his 24 years on this earth he has maximized and devoted all of his soul to being the most cutting edge triple threat entertainer in the industry. With his passion and talent, combined with the creative team supporting him, there is little doubt that when you hear someone on the street saying: “That’s G” you’ll no longer associate this slang with “That’s gangsta”, but instead you’ll assume that G Curtis must be playing on the radio…
