Naimee Coleman emerged in the mid-'90s as one of Ireland's most promising singer/songwriters. Brought up by hippie parents in a quiet suburb of Dublin, Coleman began writing songs at the age of 14 and later became a backing vocalist for the now defunct Irish rock band the Wilde Oscars. After winning the 2FM Song Contest at the age of 16, she turned down a record deal from EMI to concentrate on her studies, but eventually signed with them two years later. In 1996, she recorded her debut full-length, Silver Wrists, at Abbey Road Studios, and the album went on to sell 50,000 copies and led to success in Germany and Japan, where she extensively toured for nearly two years. In 2000 she teamed up with dance duo Aurora UK on the U.K. Top Five hit "Ordinary World," a cover of the Duran Duran '90s hit, and later went on to record tracks for their self-titled debut album. A year later she collaborated with established songwriters Boo Hewerdine, Phil Thornalley, and Eg White on her sophomore album, Bring Down the Moon, citing Björk and Massive Attack as influences. Since then, she has divided her time between L.A. and Dublin, performing intimate acoustic showcases and writing tracks for her next album.
