Yianna music video Love Is Your Name

Yianna, a Greek native didn’t have your typical upbringing. Completely immersed in music with a famous Greek singer,” Paschalis Terzis” as her father and a mother who was also a professional singer, its no wonder this bombshell has mimicked those same footsteps and captivated audiences internationally. At the tender age of 9, Yianna was drawn to the musical talents of the Jackson 5, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, and her biggest inspiration – Michael Jackson. The Rhythm and Blues undertones of these artists have been embraced in her music and continue to impact her musical talents. Each musical sequence of her life gave way to a new set of melodies, which gave way to a gift – or in this case, a loop. The loop transformed into a road involving Politics and obtaining entry to the University of Peiraias to study International & European Politics and Finance. Although she completed the necessary entry exams she quickly realized that she was born to sing and as she had been maintaining her studies music and piano she not only went on to attain a degree in Theoretic Music, but she pursued her dream of becoming a professional singer and was quickly signed to Universal Music who not only recognized the uniqueness in her voice but also her highly notable tone. In 2006 her debut Greek language album was released titled “Gyrna to Kleidi” (translation: “Turn the Key”) from which radio discovered her first single “Pou kai Pou” (translation: “Now and Then,”) and radio play grew rapidly becoming a smash hit throughout Greece, as well as, other Greek communities, eventually catapulting to other countries such as Cyprus, Australia, Canada and the United States. Not only did it reign the charts for months, but became one of the most popular ringtones ever. The obvious star quality of the single and Yianna was immediately recognized with two nominations for “Best New Artist” in 2007 at the “Cyprus Music Awards” as well as the prestigious “Arion Awards” (equivalent of AMA’s/Grammy’s). In February 2008, her sophomore album was released with EMI from which two singles and videos were released. As an entertainer and live performer, Yianna is no stranger to delivering on stage and has always been in high demand all over Greece, Cyprus and internationally. Having performed with some of the most notable names in Greek music over the years including artists and musicians alike. Yianna decided it was time to pursue her love of English language music. After being introduced to her manager and the opportunity to travel to the U.S arose it was apparent it was time to pursue a crossover career. “I’m ready to pursue my lifelong dream of being an English Crossover artist”, says Yianna When speaking on her thousands of Greek fans, she says “I appreciate all my fans following me on my journey and look forward to bringing them the other side of me they didn’t get to see in Greece” Pursuing her dream, Yianna has been travelling back and forth to the U.S while developing her material and working on her craft. She has recorded songs with industry notables such as Grammy winners “Nate Walka”, “Makeba Riddick” and Grammy nominated producers “Young Yonny” to name but a few. All the while continuing to develop her skills as a songwriter, vocalist and a dancer. She still has the same passion that did that little 9 year old girl who sang along to every word of Michael Jackson’s lyrics despite English not being her native language, she still has the same drive that she did when it was decided that politics was not for her, but music was and still is her first love.
